Power BI offers an option for users to create parameterized reports that can allow users to dynamically filter data in a Power BI report to allow more flexibility and interaction. Parameters in Power BI can be created in the Power Query Editor when you click on the Manage Parameters tab. In the Manage Parameters window, you can determine the name, type and default values. The parameters you create can then be used in relationships and/or queries when loading data, which is particularly useful when working with large datasets or when users want data filtered in specific ways.
In our
Power BI Course in Pune, we provide an exploratory look at real world use cases for parameterized reports (e.g. monthly summaries of sales, or drop down lists to filter to every region). We find parameterized reports to help establish meaningful data storytelling as a facilitator for end users and data interaction.
As part of the
Power BI Training in Pune module, students learn how to work with parameters in conjunction with SQL queries to establish a secure source of data from a database. For example, you can add a parameter for filter in a SQL query; these parameters can also be tied into slicers or an input field to allow a user to interact with the report based on preset conditions and/or parameters of guidance.
In the
Power BI Classes in Pune, we included hands-on exercises to develop parameter tables and connect them to DAX measures or filters in a structured manner. The structured approach builds the capability of the user to continue to build scalable reporting solutions that can easily adjust to the users' needs.
